Tattoo artist Dylan Forte creates sacred geometry on the skin. Over the past 12 year, he has transformed respect for nature and its innate patterns into a complex body art that symbolizes the connection of all things.
These arts are fascinating. Forte is influenced by his world tours, and in doing so, allows him to reconnect with the essence of his visual art. "Cultures around the world have recognized for thousands of year and have paid homage to their art, architecture, and religion." In studying these sources, he incorporate a variety of designs, from fine dot work to elemental elements with a touch of paint. Seen as a microcosm of the universe, Mandela is the foremost motive in his creation. It depicts the beauty of a cyclical world, sometimes with sharp edges and sometimes with soft ones.
Forte has found a many success in tattooing - he considers actor Chris Hemsworth as one of his most prominent clients. But body art is not the only source of his creativity. “Of course I still paint on traditional canvases,” he admits. "I've started a few of those paintings at my art shows in Auckland and I'm currently working on some parts for a big show in Los Angeles."
However, tattooing is an experience that cannot be imitated on canvas. "My art is what I draw people to tattoo, that canvas is to display my creations for the rest of their lives. They have their own meaningful commitment to tattooing and I am happy to make people happy.
